The Bing-Davis Memorial Gallery schedule has resumed with a twist for 2020-21. This year’s seven exhibits will include an online video interview featuring each of the participating artists.

“We made the decision to forego in-person artist’s receptions this year to keep both our UIU community and visiting artists safe,” Laura Gleissner, UIU assistant professor of art, said. “Instead, we are recording interviews tailored to each artist and their exhibition. The videos will be placed on the University website’s Bing-Davis Memorial Gallery page, providing information about the current exhibition, artist, and the process and ideas behind the making of their work.”

In addition, this year’s gallery posters feature QR codes which people can scan with a smart phone. The scan will take the individual directly to the website to watch the artist interviews.

The 2020-21 gallery schedule opened August 31 with the works of UIU alumnus Andrew J. Wroble ’11. A native of Casper, Wyoming, Wroble earned a Bachelor of Science degree at UIU. Forest forms often highlight the imagery of the now Harpers Ferry, Iowa, artist, who uses ink drawing to express a universal reference for dispersal and connectivity.

Wroble’s online video can be viewed at uiu.edu/art-on-campus/bing-davis-memorial-gallery/.

The complete 2020-21 Bing-Davis Memorial Gallery artist schedule is as follows:
